What is an Inline Water Filter?
Takes the taste (and some of the nasties) out of your fill-up water.
Simplified animation — not to scale.
In plain English
Fitted between the tank and the tap, or at the fill point itself, a cartridge filter reduces chlorine taste, sediment and some bacteria — especially useful when filling from an unfamiliar tap.
How it works
Water is forced through an activated-carbon (and sometimes ceramic) cartridge that traps particles and absorbs certain chemicals and odours before the water reaches your glass.
Signs of trouble
- ⚠Water tastes 'off' again — the cartridge is due a change
- ⚠Reduced flow rate — the cartridge is clogged
- ⚠Cloudy water even after filtering — check the cartridge hasn't split
Rough UK cost
£20 – £80 for a replacement cartridge; £60 – £150 to fit a filter housing.
Ballpark only — depends on your van, converter and local labour rates.
