What is a Fresh Water Tank?
Where your drinking, washing and washing-up water lives until you need it.

In plain English
Usually mounted under the floor or under a seat, this tank holds anywhere from 20 to over 150 litres of fresh water, feeding the tap, shower and sometimes the loo's flush.
How it works
A filler cap on the outside (or a jug-fill point inside) lets you top it up. The water pump then draws from the bottom of the tank whenever you open a tap.
Signs of trouble
- ⚠Water tastes stale — usually needs a clean and fresh fill, not a fault
- ⚠Visible cracking, especially after a hard frost
- ⚠Water level gauge stuck or reading empty when you know it's full

£150 – £450 fitted if it needs replacing (cracked tanks are the most common reason).
