What is a Fold-Out / Pedestal Table?
The table that folds away to almost nothing when you need the floor space.
Simplified animation — not to scale.
In plain English
Whether wall-mounted and hinged, or on a removable pedestal leg, the dining table is designed to fold flat or lift out entirely, freeing up walking space when you're not eating.
How it works
A folding wall bracket or a telescopic/removable floor leg lets the tabletop be repositioned or stowed, usually locking with a simple pin or cam lever.
Signs of trouble
- ⚠Won't lock securely at height — a genuine safety issue if hot food or drinks are on it
- ⚠Wobbling at the hinge or leg base — often just a loose fixing
- ⚠Table top warping if stored damp — dry thoroughly before long-term storage
Rough UK cost
£60 – £200 fitted for a replacement table and mounting.
Ballpark only — depends on your van, converter and local labour rates.
