Why it matters
Sealant around vents, aerials, solar panels and seams is the first line of defence against water ingress, and it degrades with UV exposure and vehicle flex long before a leak becomes visible inside.
How to do it
- Safely access the roof and run a hand along every seam and around every fitting, feeling for cracking or lifting sealant.
- Re-seal any suspect areas with a flexible sealant recommended for motorhome roofs.
- If you're not comfortable on the roof, a habitation service will usually include this check.
How often
Every 6 months, and always before winter.
Rough UK cost
£10 - £20 in sealant for DIY; £150 - £400 for a professional roof survey and reseal.
