Why it matters
Damp is the single biggest cause of expensive motorhome repairs, and it's almost always cheaper to catch early. A habitation service also checks your gas system and appliances are safe to use.
How to do it
- Book with a qualified habitation engineer (NCC-approved centres are a good starting point) roughly once a year.
- They'll run a gas leak test, check appliance operation and flueing, test all electrical circuits, and use a moisture meter at known damp-prone points.
- Ask for a written report - useful for your own records and for resale.
How often
Every 12 months, and ideally before a long winter lay-up.
Rough UK cost
£150 - £300.
