What are Gas Locker & Cylinders?
The sealed, vented box that keeps your propane or butane bottles safe.

In plain English
LPG cylinders live in a purpose-built locker, sealed off from the living area and vented directly to the outside — so that if gas ever escapes, it drains away outdoors instead of collecting inside the van.
How it works
A drop-vent at the bottom of the locker lets any leaked gas (which is heavier than air) fall straight out through the floor, rather than pooling where you sleep.
Signs of trouble
- ⚠Locker door not sealing properly against the body
- ⚠Vent hole blocked by mud, ice or road grime — check and clear it regularly
- ⚠Smell of gas anywhere near the locker — stop and investigate immediately
Rough UK cost
£100 – £300 fitted if the locker or seals need replacing. A refill cylinder is roughly £25–£40.
