What is an Awning Lighting (LED Strip)?
Low-power LED strip lighting under the awning for evenings outside.
Simplified animation — not to scale.
In plain English
A run of 12V LED strip lighting, usually clipped along the awning rail or the side of the van, extends your usable evening hours outside without draining the leisure battery the way a mains lamp would.
How it works
LED strips draw very little current for the light they produce, wired back to a switched 12V circuit (sometimes with a dimmer) on the leisure electrics system.
Signs of trouble
- ⚠Dead sections of the strip — LED strips typically fail in short segments, not all at once
- ⚠Flickering — usually a loose connector rather than the LEDs themselves
- ⚠Strip come away from its clip mounting — reattach before it's damaged by the awning rolling over it
Rough UK cost
£15 – £60 fitted for a replacement strip.
Ballpark only — depends on your van, converter and local labour rates.
