What is an Onboard WiFi / 4G Router?

A dedicated router with an external roof-mounted antenna generally pulls a stronger, more stable mobile signal than a phone alone, and shares it as WiFi around the van for everyone's devices.
How it works
The router takes a SIM card and connects to the mobile network, boosted by a roof antenna, then broadcasts that connection as a local WiFi network inside the van.
Signs of trouble
- ⚠No signal despite being in a supposedly covered area — try a different network provider's SIM
- ⚠Router won't power on — check its fused 12V supply
- ⚠Slow or dropping connection — often the antenna cable connection has worked loose
