Why it matters
A motorhome's weight changes significantly depending on water, gas, and gear on board. Running incorrect pressures affects handling, fuel use, and tyre life - and, at worst, safety.
How to do it
- Check pressures cold, using the laden figures in your handbook that match how loaded the van currently is.
- Inspect tread depth and look for cracking in the sidewalls - motorhome tyres often age out before they wear out, due to long periods of standing.
- Check the spare (or repair kit) at the same time.
How often
Before every trip, and monthly if the van is used regularly.
Rough UK cost
Free to check yourself with a gauge; £120 - £300 per tyre if replacement is needed.
